FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, this service is one of TCP/IP facilities that enables you to transfer files between two computers on the Internet. Another great feature of FTP is translating text files automatically; as computers have different operating systems and different formats of the text files that need to be translated. Files transfer is divided into:
- Download files: bringing files from Host computer to Local computer.
- Upload files: sending files from Local computer to Host computer.
